Read that out loud. Does that not sound like some sort of fairy tale or an M Night Shamaylain (sp?) movie?

That basically was Trevor Noah’s joke. I laughed, but while laughing, realized that indeed, yes, I did not smoke too much weed or drink too much beer. Kanye West indeed called Donald Trump to get Asap Rocky free and now Donald Trump is angry about not being able to BUY GREENLAND.

Yes, though it enjoys significant autonomy. The population is roughly 88% Inuit and 12% Danes. It’s possible this relationship will become strained if global warming makes economic exploitation of Greenland possible meaning that Greenland c ould be wealthier on it’s own, but right now it’s still definitely a good deal for them to be part of Denmark.

Denmark doesn’t “own” Greenland. Greenland is a semi-autonomous territory that falls under the Danish government’s purview. It’s a touchy subject there to begin with from what I can gather.

Let’s say Denmark owns Greenland kind of like the US owns Guam. Which is to say we’re saying nothing about the people who actually have lives and own property in these places, but treating them like some kind of pawn that can be purchased for money, for who knows what reason even.

And on top of that he also posted a tweet joking about not building a Trump tower in Greenland once he “buys” it (so is this a private Trump purchase, or a US government purchase now?).

I get that some people think he’s pwning the libs and this is all really entertaining, but it really really isn’t. If the Rs thought Obama made the US look weak by building amicable relationships with other leaders, this fool is making the US a laughing stock by making his diplomacy look like a comedy skit.

Also speaks to his race relations. I know he loves spouting how much he’s done for “BLACK unemployment” and crap like that…but what specifically has he done to further that cause? He cares about anybody or any group only to the extent that being aligned with them gets him personal credit and fame. So in his eyes Kanye is an excellent African American, and how could he be a racist? He’s BFFs with Kanye and tried getting another famous black person out of jail in a foreign country!

OK...what does that say about how much he cares for the average black/jewish/brown person? Absolutely nothing. Hell, even throw white people that he sees as the “real” Americans in to that list…he’ll gladly separate them between the good ones and the bad ones based solely on whether they support him or not.

I’m far, far more alarmed by the changes in federal guidelines that will force Planned Parenthood out of Title X, or the sheer amount of immigrants dying under police custody.

What I mean is that we shouldn’t get outraged about this... it’s not even the first time the US wants to buy Greenland.

Absolutely with you on that. Remember how about a year ago kids in cages was such a huge deal and everyone was up in arms about it? Guess what – today, kids still in cages and is just par for the course.

Folks losing access to healthcare due to Title X changes, or today the government releasing regulations scrapping the Flores Settlement…just another day in Trump land! “Could’ve been worse” is the most we’ll get from the fraction of people who probably even pay attention anymore.
